Microcement Kitchen Worktops – Seven Meadows Barns

This project at Seven Meadows Barns was centred around creating a kitchen that feels cohesive, durable, and quietly refined. The brief was to move away from traditional worktop materials and introduce a seamless finish that ties the entire space together.

All microcement worktops were installed onto a Schmidt kitchen, combining high-quality cabinetry with a bespoke, hand-finished surface. This pairing allowed for a clean, contemporary look while ensuring the structure beneath was as precise as the finish above.

Microcement was used across all key surfaces, including the main kitchen worktop, island, and a dedicated drinks and coffee station. This created a continuous, uninterrupted finish that complements the overall design of the room while offering a highly practical surface for everyday use.

The main worktop features an integrated drainage area, formed directly into the microcement. This detail not only adds functionality but also enhances the minimal aesthetic by removing the need for additional accessories or fittings. Paired with an undermounted sink, the result is a smooth, uninterrupted surface that is both easy to maintain and visually balanced.

The island worktop continues the same material and finish, helping to anchor the space and create a strong central feature within the kitchen. Extending the microcement into the drinks and coffee station ensures consistency throughout, allowing each area to feel connected rather than separate.

An important part of this project was incorporating existing structural elements into the design. The steel pillars within the space were microcemented to match the surrounding surfaces, transforming them from purely structural components into considered features of the room. This approach softens the overall look and ensures nothing feels out of place.

The final result is a kitchen that feels intentional and well resolved, where every surface works together. The use of microcement not only delivers on aesthetics but also provides a durable, long-lasting finish suited to a busy kitchen environment.
